According to renowned cocktail expert Forest Collins, these are the top eight hidden bars in Paris. It should be noted that this list was published in 2018 and while the bars are still in operation, they are not as discreet as they used to be.
Located behind an unassuming entrance at the rear of a taco eatery, Forest claims that this establishment is among the finest cocktail bars globally. She recommends sampling the Gueppe Verte, a contemporary favorite known for its invigorating yet fiery flavor.
Location: 52 Rue de Saintonge, 75003 Candelaria
At a hotel named 1K, head towards the restaurant’s kitchen section to locate the concealed entrance. According to Forest, it is an excellent spot to experience mescal firsthand. A tip: try ordering a Mescal flight.
Tucked away in the rear of a dining establishment, make your way to an unmarked entrance and enter. According to Forest, the area is cozy and adorned with velvet seating and wall decor featuring flamingos. She recommends trying a Zelda martini.
The location of Fitzgerald can be found at 54 Boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg, 75007.
If you pass through a bustling pizzeria and enter an unmarked door, you will find yourself in a refrigerated passageway. Continue onwards and you will quickly be enveloped in a dark and alluring atmosphere, reminiscent of the prohibition era. Along the way, you may even stumble upon hidden flasks of cocktails disguised as hollowed-out books.
Location: 5 Rue Sedaine, 75011
The picture shown above is of a street in Paris, captured by a photographer. It depicts a beautiful, quaint street with colorful buildings and a view of the Eiffel Tower in the background. The image has been resized to fit a web page.
When visiting an Indian-inspired tea room, inquire about the possibility of entering the rear area. According to Forest, you will be taken to a dimly lit bar where the walls are adorned with televisions displaying scenes that resemble the view from a train window in India.
Address: 7 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Martin, 75010
When entering the laundromat, it appears to be the usual setting until the start button is pressed to open a washing machine. However, instead of laundry, a staircase leading to a cocktail bar is revealed as the entire wall opens up.
Location: 30 Rue Rene Boulanger, 75010
At the Pink Mama restaurant, the cold storage area can be found downstairs where you can unexpectedly come across a secret cocktail bar. According to Forest, the martinis are excellent.
The location of No Entry can be found at 20 bis Rue de Douai, 75009
Behind the heavy curtain, there is a private bar waiting to be discovered. Unlike the ones with hidden panels, it is not as daunting to locate, so you are welcome to stop by for a peaceful drink.
The location of Favela Chic can be found at 18 Rue du Faubourg du Temple, 75011. You can also visit their Instagram page, @favelachicparis, for more information.
That’s all there is to it! The entire list was inspired by an interview with Forest Collins, the queen of cocktails, and her blog 52 Martinis can be found online
